Because we’ve surely missed you. \nOn Friday\, September 15th\, we’re back to usher in a new wave of screenings at The Adams Avenue Theater. Join us as we kick off the first-ever edition of our new sub-screening series\, Popcorn Reef Sleepover\, with one of the most gleefully bizarre films to emerge out of the 1980s – MY DEMON LOVER. \nThe Scott Valentine-starring romantic-horror-comedy is celebrating a brand new restoration and blu-ray release from Shout! Factory next month\, and we will be one of the first places\, if not the first place\, in the world to screen this new restoration on the big screen. So if you don’t show up\, you’re like…missing out on a moment in film history or something. \nYou’re also going to want to be in the building for the first ever Popcorn Reef Sleepover. “What the hell is Popcorn Reef Sleepover?” you may ask. It’s a brand new idea we’ve been working on all summer with The Adams Avenue Theater that’s designed to let you take a night off from 2023 and feel like you’re back in 1980\, or 1990-something. Remember when you could post up on a Friday night\, have some Gushers and a Capri Sun\, and watch whatever trash was on Cinemax with your friends all night long while your parents had no clue what was happening? That’s basically what we’re going to do here – except in a giant concert hall with alcohol. Pajamas and/or costumes are encouraged\, and if you come in something especially eye-catching\, you might just win a prize. \nWe’ve also decided to open the floor plan up at The Adams to let you take your nostalgia trip a bit further. A portion of the theater floor will be completely open. We encourage you to bring blankets\, pillows\, and whatever else you want to lounge with directly on the ground\, or you can bring your favorite camping chair to sit in*. Don’t worry – if this doesn’t sound appealing\, we will still have a traditional seating area set up as well. This just gives you the option to watch the movie in a couple new ways. \nOn September 15th\, join us for the movie party you’ve been waiting for in Normal Heights.
